The Department of English sprouted its root in the year 1995. The department has been offering UG programme (B.A.English) since 2009 with the vision of enhancing the basic skills of English Language and emphasizing the development of research in Language and Literature. The PG programme (M.A. English) was introduced in the year 2010. Since its inception the department strives to enrich’ students’ literary knowledge by igniting their critical caliber. We inculcate the students to overcome challenges in life. The department provides theoretical as well as pragmatic approach which satiates these needs of the 21st century skills.
To make the Department a full-fledged Research Centre for both Literary Studies, academic professional, research activities and English Language learning which would enable the students to acquire the knowledge about the values of life and Literature.
To make students aware of the development of the language over time by teaching Tamil grammar literature and language history books. To teach them about life principles and prepare them for government competitive examinations through training.
To envisage the department as a center for academic excellence, professional expertise and contextual research in English studies.
• To enrich the quality and excellence of the students including their commitment to critical inquiry, professionalism, interdisciplinary study and innovation.
• To enable the students to transfer the mechanics of language and literature to their set of skills.
